About the event

Join us for a thrilling day of pickleball at the Edmonton Pickleball Center - West. Whether you're a seasoned player or a newcomer, this tournament is designed for everyone. Grab your partner and register now!

The event will be a mixed partner format requiring at least one female and one Blue Goose Gander or Gosling per team. Your registration includes an optional 1-hour tutorial with a seasoned instructor, paddle rental, entry into the tournament and a catered lunch. There will be two tiers (beginners and advanced) with prizes for both but a trophy for the advanced winners. If you don't have a partner, you can sign up as a single player and we will match you up. **  Make sure to register EARLY because we are limited to a capacity of 40 players (20 teams).  Registration cut-off date is January 15, 2024.

The schedule is as follows:

8:45 a.m. - Best to arrive early to get ready to play

9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Introduction to Pickleball Tutorial (OPTIONAL for new players)

10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Round robin tournament with playoffs

12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Catered lunch and socialize.

This event is an annual tournament in which the Advanced-skill winners go on to compete in an inter-provincial Pond championship. We are still working on getting other Ponds to participate. We are looking for sponsors for this year's event to help keep the costs down. Please contact jennifer@hkssecurity.ca if you are interested in being a sponsor.

Format: Mixed Doubles round robin tournament with playoffs (at least one female per team)

Skill level:

  • Beginner category is for new players, those that have played a few times or occasionally (2.5-3.0 rating equivalent)

  • Advanced category is for those regular players that live and breathe the game (3.0+ equivalent)

Requirement: At least one Blue Goose Gander or Gosling per team (I know who you all are)

Registration Cost: $30/person. Keep your eyes on the web site for the list of registrants.

Wear:  Outdoor court shoes and comfortable athletic clothing (we are playing on Picklemaster flooring)

Bring: Water bottle

**Individual registrants will be partnered up so that there is at least one female per team and one Blue Goose Gander or Gosling per team. We will notify all individual registrants as soon as they have been paired up.  Depending on the registrations, there's a chance that we may not have sufficient singles to form teams. If that's the case, the affected individuals will be notified. For inquiries and other information, please contact Andrew at edmontonpond AT gmail.com.
